starting with version 1.0.15 there have been changes which will make using some disks dangerous.

the CPM only , simple and LSN disk controllers still work the same...you may put any type of image in any drive.. however RAW floppies must be homogenous.. only IMDs can be hetrogenous. the software MUST know how to access...

the RWIN disk controller is now able to read some RAW images as floppies...when using the RWIN disk controller...with RWIN, Raw images as floppies should only be used with versados...

the VME10 version of CPM uses the RWIN controller.. you should only use IMD floppies and RAW HD

WARNING - the CPM for the VME10 hard disk images do not have correct MAGIC... they have MAGIC from a Floppy , not an HD... DO NOT set parameteras from the config area or the RWIN will be programmed incorrecly to use the image... CPM will set the parameters without reguard to the actual parameters on the image...

as always, with the RWIN, put floppies in the FD and hard drives in the HD

when using versados, you may put RAW images that have magic in the FDs. you may still put IMDs in the FDs

The emulator will auto configure the RWIN to use the pre-defined parameters, if there's magic then you can choose to set the parameters from the image's magic.

if there's either Magic or pre-defined then it should work with versados. if no magic then you must manually config. THIS IS DANGEROUS If there's MAgic then the Mount will use the magic to config. any RAw image with no magic can NOT be used as a floppy..any RAW image without magic must be a pre-defined image or it will not work.

any time you insert a disk, the emualtor will check for magic... if no magic, then you can choose to use anyway...

if a RAW image is one of the pre-defined images, it will work, and you do not have to set parmeters from the image.. it won't hurt if the magic is correct..

If a hard RAW image does NOT have magic and is a predefined image, then it will work in the RWIN controller in an HD, but must be configured by the OS

If a hard RAW image does have magic or is a predefined image, then it will work in the RWIN controller

If a floppy RAW image does NOT have magic and is a predefined image, then it will NOT work in the RWIN controller as a floppy

If a floppy RAW image does have magic , then it should work with versados in the RWIN controller as a floppy.

when using CPM that does not use the RWIN, then any predefined image should work, if the CPM BIOS knows about it

with the RWIN it is best to never use a disk that is not defined and has no magic.. unless you are an expert..

Versados, unix and the vme10 CPM use the RWIN controller...

The non-vme10 version of CPM does not use the RWIN.
